Statement of Commitment to Indigenous Peoples

Maple Leaf Matting Inc. and its parent company, Strad Inc. (Strad), continue to enhance their Indigenous Relations Program. In 2018, Strad updated its Indigenous Relations Policy to emphasize that Strad and its affiliates recognize the mutual benefits created by developing and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous communities in Canada and the United States of America (USA).

Strad also retained a full-time Indigenous Relations Advisor to develop and maintain its relationships with the Indigenous communities where we work and operate. Strad continues to build and enter into new working relationships, Project Agreements and Joint Venture business opportunities that support the individual priorities of Indigenous communities. This unique approach allows Strad to have a meaningful relationship and demonstrates that we will go beyond so that each community we work with shares economic benefits.

Maple Leaf Matting and Strad have embraced the Truth & Reconciliation’s Call to Action #92. Call to Action #92 calls on the corporate sector to look at long-term sustainable opportunities from economic development projects as well as education and training for managers on the history of Indigenous people, intercultural competency, human rights and anti-racism. Strad continue its commitment to educate and train employees on Indigenous history and culture.

By increasing service offerings to customers, we create opportunities for Indigenous people in employment, training, and development and help improve regional economic growth and strength. Maple Leaf Matting and Strad are committed to supporting training and educational programs in the regions where they conduct business to enhance local development.

One of our Guiding Principles is Beyond Expectations; the PAIR program provides a strong framework to help us achieve this in the growing area of Indigenous business participation.
